I admit I am not the most satorial of men. I can scrub up pretty well when I try, but I am a bit lazy when it comes to clothing, generally preferring shorts and tee shirts to designer wear.

So I have hit a problem - a problem that arises so often you would think I would have cracked it by now. But I haven't.

I have reciecved details of our annual sales conference and on the invite the dreaded words - "dress code: smart- casual" appeared.

Oh bow-locks. Now what do I wear?

If it said business dress, easy. Whack on the suit and tie. Job done. If just casual, then it is jeans, trainers and a polo shirt. But smart casual? where does that leave me?

Exactly how smart and how casual? Are trainers acceptable? What about a tee shirt? questions questions questions. The only smart casual I know is when Alan Partridge modelled his new range and I may not be that bothered by clothing, but I don't want to look like a twat either.

Unless someone can help me, I will be going Friday week in work trousers and a polo shirt and shoes.

Help!
